The U.S. can pride itself on its ethnic diversity and its freedoms to all her citizens but is this the root of most of our problems? Is it possible to have too many freedoms? Should we start turning people back even though this is what makes our country so great and is what our forefathers wanted? Or is it time to change the rules a bit and say enough is enough, time to start caring for the people already here instead of the people who want to come here? People in this country are getting rich off the atrocities commited by terrorists and more people than we can count are being born into poverty and oppression by racists and criminals. What do you think? Is it truly time for us to say to the government enough is enough, I will sacrifice some of my freedoms so you can cleanse this country and rid it of greed and waste? Can we truly trust our elected officials with our livelyhoods?

Being patriotic IS questioning the good of the government to its people. I love this country but I do NOT love the greed and corruption that is in office. What do they do for us? Nothing they bicker back and forth while letting issues go unattended to. Their indecisiveness on these things are causing a rift amongst us. Do not forget our leaders work for US, her citizens, not the other way around. What kind of man would I be if I did not try to make my country better? And believe me I am not just complaining, I am fighting.

Yes, Mordent just gave me the best answer I could have gotten as this question was based off that very quote!!! We CANNOT give up any freedoms. It is the governments job to protect us, not limit us.

We really don't have any freedom if you look at it, If you look at it in a political view whose really voting for who they want to be president, not the ppl thats for sure, the democrats pick they ppl and the republicans pick theres. The real root of our problems is the corruption in the office. We shouldn't turn immigrants away er're what made this country, and if you look at it all our ancestory were immigrants did the native americans at first push them away no, so why should we push others away. If we were to cleanse our country of all its greed and waste we wouldn't have a country Americans are over consumers, and hell naw wee can't trust our elected officials if they're not corrupt b4 they get in office they sure get corrupt while there in office.

do we have too many freedoms? yes we do. It's great to have them, but then you have those liberals who abuse them and I think it's pretty sad. You wouldnt see any other country taking crap as much as america does or atleast tolerates from liberals.
slowly by slowly america's morals and values are being thrown out the window by the ACLU and everything that we stand for by the loose loop holes there are in the declaration and our amdendments.
our pledge is now gone just because some idiot had a problem with the word "god"
criminals are getting away free
they are trying to get rid of our second amendment
and lunatics like Kennedy are "sane"
"alternative" lifestyles are being pushed on our children
and they want illegal immigrants to be here

I Hear what your saying, BUT let's NOT FORGET that WE came from another country too. The ONLY TRUE American are the NATIVE AMERICANS. And as far as freedoms go, what freedoms we have we ARE LOSING EVERY SINGLE DAY by OUR OWN government. TIME to say ENOUGH and vote them ALL out of office and DO What WE Americans want NOT what our politicians want.

government will never cleanse our society of greed and waste, no matter what freedoms you might want to give away willynilly.
the short answer is that, like money, you can never have enough freedom. we are always trying to set our minds free to the best degree we are able.
freedom is a responsibility, to avail ourselves of that freedom in responsible ways. irresponsible american behaviors will lead directly to less american freedom for us all.

My right to freedom ends at your right to freedom. I and everyone else in the world should enjoy all the liberty possible as long as the excercise of it does not take away anyone else's liberty.
My freedom to swing my arm ends at someone else's nose. Until I hit someone and create a victim, I'm free to swing all I want.

What the hell is wrong with you??
NO, I like my freedoms... ALL of them!!
If you let them take one or two, then it will be that much easier to give up the next one and the next one until you are living in Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia or Communist China.
