Do you mean pay your lawyer? A lawyer should tell you from the start what and when the pay expectations will be. You are obviously free to negotiate any payment terms to which the 2 of you can agree.

Lawyers fees and court costs can be included in your settlement if you win your case. of course if you lose, you may find yourself paying for the other guy's lawyer plus all court costs.

No I believe all lawyers work for free.
