Imagine the scene, You're a member of an English club in 1872, and you are settling down to enjoy an afternoon's leisure when you feel like some music. What do you listen to and how is the music played?

This question is being asked for research purposes for an internet audio production.

They had music boxes in the 19th c and quite often had larger versions that were used in pubs/hotels etc.Thees were the for runner of the juke box they could play several tunes and had interchangeable disks for more variation,they were also coin operated.

If it was a gentlemans club you probably would not care cos u would be doing some street girl in a private room out of earshot of the string quartet

Beethoven's 5th,on the piano obviously.IN a gentlemens club then and now no music is played.in a workingmens club,well your guess is as good as mine.
