JERUSALEM - Israel's Cabinet met Sunday to approve a U.N. cease-fire plan despite widespread concerns among Israelis about reaching a truce with Hezbollah guerrillas who have not been subdued and have inflicted heavy losses on Israeli troops.

The session came as some 30,000 Israeli troops fought heavy battles with Hezbollah guerrillas in a last-minute push deeper into Lebanon, and a day after 24 soldiers were killed in the highest Israeli toll of the monthlong war

The war won't ever end. Israel have lost THIS war - they lost credibility, the moral high ground, lots of soldiers - and now they're even MORE despised by their neighbours than before. Hezbollah can quickly recover, because their militia is unsophisticated, and their troops are expendable - much like the Red Army was in World War 2

Not exactly. Israel was quite clearly winning against Hezbollah but the international community didn't like that. So Israel basically said that they would be willing to turn the matter over to them as long as they made sure the missile attacks stopped (all they really cared about).

Since Lebanon is clearly the aggressor here and they basically want every jew in the middle east dead, no matter the cost, I think it unlikely they will abide by the peace agreement. This will result in those nations who were condemning the way Israel was handling this, being forced to fight Hezbollah (let's see how THEY like it, lol). I'd say it's the beginning of all out war in the middle east.

There were no winners, just a bunch of losers.... The amount of civilians killed in this conflict was too high. Israel will never be safe in the Middle East again and lost a lot of international support because of the high civilian death toll, Hezbollah will have to disarm and hundreds of civilians on both sides lost their homes, lives, families and freinds.

No winners.

That war is not going to be over for another 20 years.

Watch and see... If they do have a cease fire, more people will be killed after the cease fire than before.
