Your dryer, unless it's approx. 30 years old, shouldn't have a standing pilot to light. The ignition source for the gas is a glo igniter, found near the gas control. If you hear a loud click and don't see a glow through the peek hole in the front panel, then there are several possibilities for the problem. Must be a pretty old dryer. They haven't had pilot flames for years. They all have electronic igniters. Maybe yours doesn't have a pilot.

a dryer have a electric pilot if it wont go on maybe you have to change the ignite'r
