I've tried to install Win XP by using it's bootable CD, but that doesn't work. What else can be done to completely remove Linux from my Laptop, which is installed on the whole Hard drive.

Format your hard drive and then try to install.

Chances are you still have LILO boot loader on there, correct?

If so, you need to low level format the drive.

I recommend an app called killdisk. The free version is all you need. 1 pass will wipe out everything on the drive. If you don't have a floppy drive, use the bootable iso and burn it to CD.

After the killdisk process is finished you have a clean drive and can now install XP from scratch.

Just blast the partition using an Fdisk utility and personally I also zap the boot sector then after rebooting, install WinXP in the cleaned out partition.....best Fdisk utility to use is the one included in most Linux CD's.....that way you can blast the main as well as the swap partition and join them into one large partition

Don't worry, this is familiar ground with me. Download SystemRescueCD (www.sysresccd.org) and then burn it to CD using UltraISO (link in sources). Run FDisk and reformat the partition. Insert your XP cd and run the installer. Good luck!

Why would you want to remove Linux? Windows XP SUCKS. You should get a Mac, but anything is better than Windows...
