Bill Johnson won the gold in the Downhill at the 1984 Olympics in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. While he didn't really fall, he totally lost control, went off course and only barely made the next gate. He then continued on and won the Gold. It was a big moment for the USA as it was our first gold ever in a skiing event.

Wikipedia only says this:

"His scary yet inspired gold-medal run down the Bjelesnica course in a time of 1:45.59 defeated legend Peter Müller of Switzerland by 0.27 seconds."

And I couldn't find a link to any video footage but it was a pretty impressive display.
