I hear that Manny is just as big a jerk and just as surly as Bonds is. And from the looks of his upper body, I'd have to say that he's probably, or likely has been, on 'roids himself. These guys make me sick!

After reading "Game of Shadows", there is no doubt that Bonds is a jerk. I don't think Manny Ramirez is a surly, and I think he's fairly well liked around the league, although he can be an airhead, lazy, and cocky (he looks ridiculous when he stands and admires his home runs and stares at the pitcher).

As for steroids, there are a LOT of players who have done them and who haven't been caught. It's unfair that Giambi hears "STEROIDS" chants on the road, because the fans who say it, certainly have players on their favorite teams who have done them. I would not be surprised if Manny has used them, his numbers are just ridiculous, and he hits balls out that he doesn't even hit very well. When he was with Cleveland, I saw him hit a ball off his front foot, almost one-handed to left center in Yankee Stadium and over the fence. That was just crazy, and not normal.

1. I agree with you completely about Bonds.
2. There have never been any allegations or hints of any kind of performance enhancing drugs against Manny.
3. Manny is a free-spirit, a latter day hippie. He used to use the song "But I got high." as his song at Fenway until the former management got wind of it.
4. Manny got robbed by Miguel Tejada to end his 27 game hitting streak. He spent the rest of the game giving good-natured trash talk to Tejada. Not out of anger, but his way of giving Tejada props for a gold glove play.
5. A Boston newspaper writer once compared Pedro Martinez and Manny. He said that if Pedro had not been a ball player, he would have been a politician or statesman in the Dominican Republic. If Manny had not been a ball player, he would have delivered pizzas on the West Side of Manhattan--when he got up to go to work. That story really damns Manny unfairly because he is one of the hard working ballplayers. He often gets to Fenway 12 hours before game time. Not to score roids at Balco, but to lift weights and take extra b.p. If you don't like Manny, that is your right, but don't slander him.

If you compare pictures of young Manny Ramirez with older Manny Ramirez, you will find he looks much the same in both pictures. However, comparing Bonds of 1986 and Bonds of 2006, no doubt he has taken steroids. Men his age do not bulk up like that UNLESS they are on something.

I don't know much about Manny. As far as Bonds is concerned his kind will ruin Baseball. Leaving aside the juicing issue, he's just into himself. While Bonds is busy breaking homerun records the Giants are in last place. Baseball is supposed to be a team sport.

No. I've never heard Manny and steroids in the same sentence until you mentioned it just now.
I don't believe that at all. I actually like to see Manny play.
Joggin' around the bases like he doesn't have a care in the world!
Everyone says he's lazy, but I think it's fun to watch him. : )
As for Barry "Juice Man" Bonds, he makes me sick, too.
He thinks he's above the law.
No matter, though.
His celebrity will make him a hero in prison, too!

I have never heard any rumors about Manny doing steroids. As far as him being a jerk, he's usually protrayed as not the greatest team player in the world, but more of a flake than an out-and-out jerk like BB.

I've never heard of rumors about Manny using 'roids, and we've all heard of Bonds using steriods. Bonds isn't really that much of a jerk, though I still do hate him-though I am a Giants fan.

Questions (and subsequent answers) like this really disappoint me. Manny is one of the few clean players in the game. He's one of the hardest-working players in baseball, and actually most of his teammates really like him. He's free-spirited, he knows how to avoid the media if he doesn't have anything nice to say (other than Bonds, who apparently wants everyone to leave him alone but won't EVER shy away from a microphone and loves drawing attention to himself - remember when he dressed up like Paula Abdul in spring training?) and when media does talk to him, they find him to be very friendly, talkative and easy-going. Manny isn't the type of player after whom I'd model my kids, but he certainly isn't even close to the level of that despicable Barry Bonds.

no, bonds went from 30 hr a year to 73 and then never more than 50 again, only time above 50 was his 73 year

manny is consistent as hell, at least 30 home runs in like 10 consecutive years, not to mention his rbi totals, plus, manny has always been as big as he is, he didbt just get HUGE overnight
