Does anyone know a site to go to where they list the types of fish (tropical) that are live bearers and egg layers?

Generally speaking, livebearers are: all the types of guppies, mollies, platies and swordtails.
Most* everything else is an egglayer.

go to http://www.fishbase.org/search.php look up your fish by commom name, and it will tell you all you need to know about them.
