Another World War is inevitable. It's just not possible to compute all the variables. We think that our economies are intertwined too closely, globalized, but that's an illusion. They are in a state of equilibrium, every player pulling the blanket towards himself. Make one change in the players power and everything starts to reorganize. When war becomes better business than peace for any reason, it will happen.
Disturb the strategic resources for example, oil, uranium, copper, even water, keep one of the powerful players out of reach of one or several of them and he'll start playing with guns and missiles and his rethoric will become hitlerian. I hope it'll be the latest possible.

The "wars" in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Lebanon are all battles in WW-III. Iran is is fighting the USA everywhere they can and it is just a matter of time until things spiral out of control. But Iran, North Korea, and Venezuela all need to be dealt with.

ummm - I don't know, when WWI ended, it was called the Great War, because they never expected anything so massive to ever occur again, a few years later WWII - now it's been awhile and we could burn this world into a charred cinder 1000x over

so I think a global war in a modern context is impossible - no trenches, no gas bombs, just peoiple bombing towns from space and accross oceans

new aliances and mostly the UN make it a political imposibility for there to be a world war 3 because there are no countries powerful enough to unite all other countries against another team of all other countries...its amazing that it happeneed even once. so unless the US attacks england it wont happen.

Easily, there will be another one... and will most likely be religiously motivated and will begin in the Middle East (namely Muslims and Christians in the middle east.) AH... just like the old days of horses and swords! Of course, America will favor Israel (Jerusalem is a holy city to the Jewish/Christians, and Muslim.)

The US is smarter than that. If we feel strained, we can pull out of the rest of the world and hang out here while the other continents slaughter each other.
