why are dogs not allowed to be on the south pole?

the bbc are re-creating the original race to the south pole.because of the dog thing they are doing it in the north pole

Damage to the environment,researchers at the South pole have to remove everything that they brought with them because the weather conditions are so severe nothing decays.
Don't you think it's bad enough that you have to take your own waste home with you without having to take the dog crap as well.

It is not oly dogs that are not allowed in the South Pole. You’re not allowed to take non-indigenous species to the pristine South Pole any more. So no dogs. (Why do they allow Homo sapiens, then? Well, obviously, to keep the dogs out.)

The south pole is international territory, you can do whatever you want there. They probably just don't bring them becuase it's too cold.
