The battery everyone is telling you to replace is called the CMOS battery. It stands for complementary metal-oxide semiconductor. It's a battery that keeps the clock running. The mother board only draws something like 1/1,000,000 of an amp per second during normal operation to keep the clock set.
Call the manufacturer of the computer and they'll help get you the battery you need. It looks like a watch battery usually. Kind of wafer like.

Have the battery replaced.In the mean time,instead of shutting it down,place it in standby mode.This can be done thru your shut down options menu.This will shut down all your drives,monitor etc. but keep the computer in a low power mode much like your T.v.,DVD etc.

it's ur computer new or old?
cuz if it's old, ur battery on the computer is (dead).
and yea, u should replaced it.
but if ur computer is new, call for help. lol.
