Ok, a couple of things may help
Reboot your PC and only load the DVD burning software, this ensures you have the maximum amount of memory
When you burn the DVD, use the slowest speed (probably 4x)
Never burn over a network \ USB device make sure the iso is on a local disk (prefferably one which has recently been defragmented)

make sure you're not doing something else on your computer while burning a cd. This can cause buffer underrun errors. If the issue is with the drive, then buy another one. You can get one for like 30 bucks these days.

Maybe that your cd burner is fine. Maybe you have too much programs running on memory and make your computer and hard disk slow, therefore creating the buffer problem. Try too clean the memory.

Yup, sounds like you wore that baby out. Right now is a great time to be looking to buy a new one; they've never been cheaper. I suggest Pioneer brand (which I've had very good experiences with), and right now you can pick up a black or beige one from Newegg for a mere $31.99 with free shipping. And yes, these are CD/DVD burners with dual-layer capability. Have fun. :) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827129001

We have a LG burner and we had lot of problems with it. Finally, it turns out that we have to download a firmware every six months. Then it works OK. Try the firmware!
