Now this is interesting. The hype of Carmelo and Bron-bron "rivalry" after the draft end up with Carmelo backing down from the challenge. So much for Bird vs Magic. Which is sad in a way. Carmelo ended up with a character issue (with his pot that was not suppose to be his) and underachieved his sophomore year, when Bron-bron goes on to surprise everybody.
Carmelo is a bit behind on lebron, but he has a new role right now. Melo scored a lot of clutch basket last season, tying and game winning shots. Something that Lebron need to develop more.

LeBron. Carmelo Anthony is good, and Detroit will make it on 10 resons you can't blame Detroit for not picking Carmelo, but anyways, LeBron is a more dominant player than Melo. He demands double and triple teams. He can pull up and shoot, or he can drive to the basket and slam it down, or he can drive and draw the foul. Carmelo, is only better at rebounding the ball and playing defense. LeBron can score, pass, steal, rebound, block, and shake you out of your shoes.

LeBron. When there careers come to an end, hey'll be alot closer, but right now LeBron has more tools in the toolbelt. There both good from outside, LeBron goes to the cup better, passes better, and i think has better D. Melo is better in the post, but for how long. LeBron with that from is probably being encouraged to get a post game like Mike did mid-career and was unstoppable.

Lebron is the best player of this generation,,,,HANDS DOWN!!!! Carmello is very, very good, but Lebron is great. He shoots for a higher percentage, has more assists, and makes every player on his team better. Just look at how the Cavs. have done and compare it to how the Nuggets have done, and your question will be answered.

Easy. Anthony is very good; LeBron may be the best in the NBA already, and will only get better and better for the next 8-10 years.

Lebron James is a better basketball player because he leads his team to the playoff, he is a good captain and is getting trible doubles.

Power Rating = pr = points + rebounds + assists = p + r + a
A very simple fool proof system. The best results occur when you compare players who play the same position.
2006
C. Anthony - 26.5 + 4.9 + 2.7 = 34.1
L. James - 31.4 + 7.0 + 6.6 = 45
King James is better.
Career
C. Anthony - 22.8 + 5.6 + 2.7 = 31.1
L. James - 26.5 + 6.6 + 6.6 = 39.7
King James again
