Think of it as the perfect opportunity for you to monopolize someone else's time with your theory.

I always have my students do outlines, which I do myself just because they save me so much time.

But for me, the thing that works best is actually a little kitchen timer I bought. I set it for some bearable amount of time and then don't allow myself to do anything but work on my paper - no food, no tv, no Yahoo Answers, just writing - and if not writing, then sitting there with my fingers on the keys.

Try writing an outline first. Decide on a topic, then flesh it out, and go from there....that will at least give you a framework to start with.

Try doing it in "chunks" :)

Start by doing an outline, then write each section of the outline, taking breaks in between :)
