I am going to be having a moving sale soon... how much could I ask for a Graco baby swing in Excellent condition? What about baby clothes? She grew fast, so all her clothes are practically brand new. What is a reasonable price for a yard sale?

Your competition is other yard sales. Baby items are very common and do not fetch a lot of money. All clothing items will likely sell for under a dollar, and the swing will probably sell for under $20.00. People who shop at yard sales are looking for bargains and will be scared off by high prices marked on the merchandise. If you see someone interested in an item, don't be afraid to say, "make me an offer".

Good luck with your sale.

You might want to check the prices at other garage sales in your local paper or look up what like items are selling for on Craigs List. I can see that Graco Baby Swings sold for $40 & $45 a few days ago in my area. I went to the Craigs List web site below and searched in For Sale for the words Graco Swing

It depends on the area where you live and what kind of prices are found at garage sales there. If you are wanting a particular price that might seem high for a garage sale you could list in the for sale section of the newspaper. Some would be willing to pay a price for things in ALMOST NEW condition instead of paying full price for new ones.

You should usually ask for more than what you expect to get. People who shop at garage/moving sales will ALWAYS try to haggle the price down. So if you start from a higher price, you are more likely to sell the items for what you actually want.

In addition, when you are ready to have your sale, you should get the word out. Try this site in order to advertise your moving sale:

Good luck!

Don't want to charge too much, after all, it's used stuff and not new.

If the swing is in near mint condition I'd say you could get 1/3 retail price. The clothes, anywhere from .25-$3.00 depending on name brand and condition.

If it's more important to you to get rid of the stuff, price it cheap and be done with it.

Another thought....you could always donate to an abuse shelter and get a tax write-off.

I don't really know an exact price to quote, but always put it for a little more than you think you'll get and if you get it that is great, but it gives the buyer a little room to bargain and then they think they are getting a good deal too. If someone starts to walk away, you can always offer a better deal.

Happy buyers = happy sellers
