Call the animal control department to collect these wild animals and take them away. Your Landlord should be liable for any cost incurred.

Well, First i am sad when i hear people that feel this way. I understand it but it is not rational. Snakes are great and dont deserve death. They keep us from being plaugued with rats, mice and other vermon. The first thing you need to do is see if you can identify what types of snakes they are. Are they venomous? IF so call animal control they can remove the snake(s) for you. IF not i would leave them 100% alone. Chances are also that once you move in they might move away anyway. How can you identify them? Well if you have seen them close enough then google: Snakes of such and such state. And see what the results are. If you are not sure what they look like then just call animal control. Snakes are losing thier land enough as it is. Be kind. Also, if you wanna say what area you live in I can help to identify what snakes are in your area.

Don't kill the snakes or the muskrat. The snakes are probably garter snakes, as harmless as the muskrat. Unless you want to live in the city you may run into other animals besides humans from time to time. Deal with it.

Muskrats-let the snakes take care of it.

Snakes-A Kingsnake will actually eat the other snakes.
Animal Control is free.

Instead of just killing the poor creatures who are just trying to survive, like everyone and everything else, and definitely mean you no harm, why not just drive them away? Get moth balls and rags soaked in ammonia and toss them under the house(wrap the rag around a rock so it goes way in,not near the entrance),the smell will drive them away.Combine that with a portable radio playing a talk channel loud(again, not in front of the entrance if you want them to go-'find another spot-if possible opposite the entrance)-they know to be afraid of people since most never do anything but try to KILL them,so the voices(the vibrations for the snakes, since they are deaf) and smells will work..If you give your location and a description of the snake in an update I may be able to tell you if they are potentially dangerous to anything except small rodents.Muskrats can bite if irritated and denied the chance to run(or if rabid, but rabies is somewhat rare in rodents and USUALLY has other signs like obvious ill health, eye and nasal discharge, staggering, emaciation, aggression or appearing tame and allowing you to get close without attempting to escape),but they are generally shy, avoid humans and won't hurt you unless you give them no choice but to try to protect themselves--but wouldn't YOU try to protect yourself if you were trapped by someone or something and denied a way to escape?Does this mean YOU deserve death?Unless you plan on eating them, let them live,we have enough senseless, needless death in the world. If you HAVE TO kill, join the service and go to Iraq or Afghanistan, there are plenty of two-legged,far-from-innocent creatures there that DESERVE death.

kill the snakes with commercial snake bait, and LEAVE THE MUSKRAT ALONE!!! the snakes can hurt you, but the muskrat has as much right to the area as you. Maybe you can find a professional to relocate it.

Why don't you find another place to live?
