I remain steadfast in my view that Blair and his cronies have returned this country to a new Dark Age. Do you agree or have you another epitaph for him?

You are right. Thatcher at least stuck to a policy not change it every day. Health Service destroyed, Education a shambles, Economy about to implode on us and the immigration fiasco. Just a few of the Blair highlights in government. Let us not forget illegal wars and brown nosing a Bush. Lets remember a man who would be whiter than white and has been leader of the sleaziest party ever. A man who for his future financial security has given our assets to the EU. A man who has through his PC colleagues taken childhood away. Has allowed crime to get so out of hand it will take years to control it. Made schools a breeding ground for drugs. Seen the biggest rise in addicts ever. His epitaph " He stunk and destroyed a great nation".

Britain was destroyed by the labor movements that took away corporate powers and created too many entitlement programs for those who are too unskilled or lazy to work. The burden of social programs sucks the coffers dry while people grow fatter and lazier daily. What was once the most powerful country in the world has become little better than a third world country. The only saving grace has been the surge in high tech jobs which could putt the country back on good footing. Linking up with France and the EU was a big mistake. France has manipulated everything where they come out ahead at the expense of other countries. I'm surprised England and Germany permitted France to get the upper hand. That was a very big mistake.

Blair did not scrap the rebate. The rebate maintains right now. on the 2005 Brussels summit France tried to get Britain to scrap it, yet Blair refused and he replaced into supported with the help of the competition in Parliament and almost all the united kingdom inhabitants. the united kingdom made CAP reform a prerequisite of eliminating of the rebate, a theory their combatants rejected. The Ruin of Britain started long back before Tony Blair. It started from Queen Elizabeth II.and Clement Atley.Britain was a small country ,it expanded by colonialism and plundering. The moment it started giving independence to colonies it started crumbling. It has no economy or industry to stand on itsown. It has to depend on the mercy of USA.What Blair is doing that only. The most viable proposal is to wind up and become part of USA and remain as a super power.Let us accept facts and be practical

Dark Age?

What, are people starving on the street? Are you collecting the dead in pestilence strewn charnal fields?

Is illiteracy running at 80%?

You remain steadfast in hyperbole.

Blair is not my cup of tea, but gross exagerations do nothing to advance intelligent debate or the promotion of anything more than the most superficial of thoughts

From my perspective it seems Blair falls well short of what both major parties want, and for cogent reasons. But let's worry less about Blair (and his wife professionally riding the lucrative Human Rights bubble), and turn to what this land really needs : progressive democratic debate, unhindered by the banal soundbites and spin of whatever party.

The British people have no one to blame but themselves. Tony Blair does the best he can. But he also must work with Parliament. In a democracy we can only blame ourselves if we don't like our leaders. We voted for them and their parties.

Here is the epitaph I suggest:

"I tired, and no one listened. We bleed, and no one cared. My people choose ignorance instead of bravery, and fear ruled their hearts"

I think this is more poignant.

Very well put Jon H. It's sad that some just enjoy jumping on the Bash/Blair bandwagon when it's obvious that don't know their head from their ****.
