We just rented a storage unit to store our belongings while our house is being built. The information sheet says we provide our own pest control, recommending D-Con. Is that something we can buy at the store or do we need to have the unit professionally sprayed?

You just buy some D-con and read the label. It isn't a spray... you just put it out.

I would put everything up on planks of wood. Make sure that all boxes are sealed tight. Clothing might have moth balls in them.

You can get some awesome plastic storage containers at Costco and many dollar stores. These would close up tight.

D-con can be purchased where the bug sprays are located in grocery stores. It's in a yellow and brown box that is triangle shaped. They have 2 kinds, one is for rats and the other for mice. Make sure anything that would attract the rodents is in a tightly sealed container. My parents stored furniture without d-con and the mice ruined their funiture and many other items.

Any hardware or feed store carries it. Sold over the counter.
In use, do not have any water inside. The rodents must have water and go outside to die.

D-Con to the best of my recollection is a mouse killer poison
