i have a dell inspiron 1300 with 3 usb(2) ports phillips 42PF5321D plasma tv and a JVCTHC60 system. i bought a pinnacle media center from best buy so i could use the s video but it wont work. all i want is the plasma to be the main display and the JVC system for the audio all using the laptop as my main source. please help me to connect this all together. they told me i cant use VGA either.

I would think that you use the S-video output from the back of the pinnacle box to one of the S-video inputs on the plasma TV, and that's it for the video, and I think you already got this far. For the audio, there should be a pair of audio output RCA type jacks, which you would run to one of the aux inputs on your JVC system. Only thing here is you have to select the right video input on the Phillips and the right/corresponding audio input on the JVC.

Note that there could be a slightly noticeable time difference between the timing of the audio and video due to different processing delays, because you're basically splitting the audio and video through different devices. Now, if the JVC has S-video inputs and can also do the video switching for you, that's the way to do it. Alternatively, connect both the S-video and the RCA cables directly to the Phillips, at least to make sure it's working as expected...
