I saw a picture the other day that was in newspapers the day after 9/11. It was of a firefighter climbing the stairs in one of the Trade Towers. He had a 28 on his helmet and badge # 12898. anyone know if this courageous man made it out?

The man you saw was Firefighter Mike Kehoe from Engine 28. He was in the North tower shortly after the first plane hit. Luckly, Mike and the other firemen from E-28 made it out safely, in a mad dash. Engine 28/Ladder 11 are on the Lower East Side.

Other than to contact the FDNY the only other would be to look through the lists for the firefighters lost.
I googled it and only came up with the link the first person gave you. I am looking for a site I was on a few years back they may be able to help. Hope that helps

The only way you're going to find out is to ask FDNY, and hope that they are in a cooperative mood when you ask them.

In California...There is no law requiring him to give you his badge number. However, most departments I know of, mine included, have a policy stating that they will.

I found a website of the New York City Fire Department that might help you.
