1 - money - lots of it.
2 - stables - a place to send your money - lots of it.
3 - work with a horse buyer, so you get a good one. You need good breeding, good training
4 - time - you need to spend lots of time with your horse. You won't have time for that silly computer anymore. (and maybe that is a good thing).

1. figure out what you what to use your horse for. so you want a show horse or a trail horse etc...http://www.ehow.com/how_2278_buy-first-horse.html
2. pick a price range. remember there will be great horses and crappy horses in every price range. i havent seen people negotiate the price too much.. se expect to pay that.
3. look on websites and in tack shops in the classified ads www.equinehits.com www.horsetopia.com www.petfinder.com
4. go to look at and ride the horses. go to at least 3 different horses, at least twice each one. make sure that you see the horses in different situations so you dont just see it on a good day.
5. have a vet come out and check the horse to make sure it is sound medically.
6. once you have a fwe horses narrowed down, you should look for boarding stables in your area, go check them out. look at their feed, their fences and the condition of the other horses there. think about the gas you will use driving back and forth there.
7. bring your trailer and load it up, and fork up the cash :)

First how much experience do u have? If none at all I wuld try and and find someone local that could help you to start out. If you have experience then decide what breed of horse that you want and what you want to do with him. There are tons of sites on the web that you can go to and compare different breeds and styles of riding. If you need any help just holler at me and i can giv you as much advice as you can handle.
