BEST... It takes more than a few questionable races to become a 7 times World Champion. Senna was a brilliant racer and I've always questioned how successful Schumi would have been if Senna had lived!

He is indeed an outstanding talent and his failures in judgement are a deep shame. He is such a capable driver, he doesn't need to do these things.

But he is also unique in being the only driver of the modern era to have been in the best team, with the best car, with the best tactician (with refuelling adding to the tactical combinations) all singly and completely focused on getting him to the finish line first. Ross Brawn deserves a large amount of credit for providing the strategies that have allowed Schumacher to win so often without overtaking people on the race track. Every other driver (especcially Prost and Senna and Mansell) have had team mates to contend with. often very talented ones and a team focused on getting 2 cars home as high in the points as possible.

Schumacher has had more factors combining to help him win than any other driver in modern times. (the past 30 years)

Admittedly, he needs his prestigious talent to make all that effort and all those other factors work, but when you add all those factors together, it gives him an edge that no other driver has.

How many World Championships would Senna or Prost have won if they had had all the same factors at work for them?

I really don't think Schumacher can ever claim to being the best F1 driver there ever was. He certainly can claim to being the one who had the most power over a team, as Ferrari have built their whole strategy around his personal needs to be a champion. When you look at the likes of Senna who in many people's opinion was a natural driving genious, it's pretty clear who was the best of all time. And for those of you who haven't heard of Senna (which is crazy), just view some of his classic competions with Mansell and Prost and you'll see what made F1 so popular in the 90's and what it's sadly lacking today.

To summarize in my opinion Schumacher is not the best of all time. I would give that award to Senna or Fangio.

Michael Schumacher is the best! His 7 World Championships prove it. You don't get 7 World Championships just from cheating, you will eventually be caught. In F1 their is a line which divides what you can do and what you can't do and to win you must push to the limit of what you can do. That is Racing! That is Competition! Taking it to the edge of what is possible. That is not cheating!

Can you take the pressure of living on the Edge?

Like most top sportsmen and women, they reach a peak and then find themselves taking shortcuts to stay ahead and in the literal sense, thats what happened at the last GP, except he did it once to often and paid the price and by getting damaged.
Watch MotoGp or Superbike racing instead!
They're mostly young and hungry for a win and at 200mph on a tiny footprint of rubber, you'd think twice about blocking the track, trying to take shortcuts or taking your rival out!!! Brave Boys!!!!

Yes he is simply the best. Don't you think its strange how they always criticise him whatever he does but anyone else would get a way with it. He is a strategist and whatever he does is part of his strategy. Who can say that what happened at Monaco was deliberate? They obliviously all think he is great which is why they think it was deliberate but any one else they would not have doubted.
