I am a HUGE Yankees fan but am not blind to their problems and/or mistakes and often find myself frustrated with their decisions, deals, trades, etc. To date, A-Rod has been my biggest frustration...and here's why:

First, he's only a Yankee because George Steinbrenner wanted to show the Red Sox he had the power and money to "one up" them in making that deal. Not A-Rod's fault necessarily, but it leads directly into my second issue which is...

A-Rod has no apparent professional loyalty. He played for the Rangers, had a handshake deal with the Red Sox, and ended up with Yankees. Clearly, he had no particularly affinity to any team beyond who could pay him the most and get him to the WS the fastest. IMO, he is a ring-chaser...plain and simple. Now, I know that winning the World Series is the ultimate accomplishment for a baseball player, but what about team loyalty? Look at Roger Clemens...he'd surely have had a better chance at a World Series ring this year with the Red Sox or the Yanks, but he chose to stay with his "home" team. That shows character...and there's something to be said for that.

Third, I'm tired of hearing that A-Rod -- supposedly "the best shortstop of all time" -- was MADE to play 3rd base. Not so. He CHOSE to play for the Yankees knowing they had no intention of moving Jeter from SS. No one forced him to play for the Yankees or to take a 3rd base position. If he was so intent on being a SS, he could've stayed with the Rangers. As for his status as a SS, I believe he had exactly 2 Gold Gloves in 9 years at the position. 2 out of 9? Not sure that qualifies as "the best."

Finally -- and most critical in my opinion -- is the fact that while, yes, his numbers ARE great, baseball statistics don't tell the whole story. He may well have 450+ home runs, and 1300+ RBIs, but the REAL question is when does he get them -- bottom of the 9th, full count, game tied or top of the 6th when the team is already up by 7? He does have a noticeable tendency to make the big plays when they don't make a difference and to not make them when they are most needed. Granted, he's pulled a few out of the hat over the last couple of years and, if he showed ANY consistency to continue that trend, I don't think he'd take NEARLY the beating he does from the NY fans, MLB fans in general, or the press.

Basically, as the highest paid player in the game, I think everyone expects him to earn his money. When he doesn't, he hears about it. Those of us with "regular" jobs are evaluated regularly, expected to show results, and are reprimanded when we don't meet expectations. Why should A-Rod be any different?

Gay-rod sucks because he is way overrated, and paid too much (250 Million bucks!) to continue letting hits by him at third. If your getting paid that much money, you better not screw up. Plus, whenever you need a hit, you can't count on Gay-rod. He may hit a solo HR in the bottom of the nineth, but that shot won't do anything to change the score to the Yankees favor. Plus, he is overweight. If you look at a picture of when he was the MVP when he was with Texas, he was much skinnyer and faster. Now, hes overweight and cant run around the bases as fast as he could 5 years ago.

Arod is a great player fielding and hitting. Why do you think he is 4th in the batting order. That is the most powerful hitter always. He has also gotten multiple golden glove awards. Arod could improve a little but he is getting older......31 years old. And he has been playing baseball for almost 13 years. Also, he used to be a shortstop but had to go to second base because jeter couldn't play 3rd and was a little better at shortstop then arod. 3rd base is not arod's best postion

He makes a ton of money doesn't come through when they need hits and runs and leads the league in errors for 3rd basemen.

He came from a medicore team so he looked good. We forget that New York and Boston are like fishbowls for fans. Every little thing done wrong is blown up 3 times the size

Well I think he WAS a good player. It doesn't bother me he makes 100 million a year(thats 100 million dollars that could be used for something good like homeless). It doesn't bother me that he now sucks. It's when you put the two together that it bugs me. I mean if you get payed that kind of money and lead the majors in errors you shouldn't be making that much. Put him as the sissy DH where he can't make mistakes in the field. Oh bite me Stacy.Blablablabla. A-ROD SUCKS! A-ROD SUCKS! A-ROD SUCKS!

Alex Rodriguez has been making a LOT of errors at third base. He's makes one every few days. Also, his offensive numbers are WAY lower than his usuals. People say he can potentially hit 800 HRs. But he has only 23 this year and probably will not pass 30. He is not living up to his 25million hype.

I'd rather play on a team with Joe Crede than A-Rod.

He's just in a really big and bad slump right now. He will eventually get out of it. It will help if the Yankee fans don't boo him and support him and then he will play better. Just give him some time to get better, people! He's really a great 3rd baseman.

A Rod sucks because he really has no loyalty. He is in it for the $$ IMO. He was responsible for the Mariners trading Vizquel, and then he ditched the M's to go to NY. I do not like A Rod (I am a Mariners fan & a Vizquel fan, can you tell? lol)
