I have birthed 4 babies - all born after their due date. Baby #1 - 9 days after due date, Baby #3 - 12 days after due date and 1 day before induction, Baby #3 - 5 days after due date, and Baby #4 - 7 days after due date. Believe me when I say there is absolutely no tried and true trigger to get labor moving any faster than the timetable the baby sets when he/she is ready to be born. I have walked miles, had sex, drove down bumpy roads, ate spicy food, scrubbed floors on my hands and knees, and just about any other suggestion. Never tried the Castor oil or a laxative suppository - both new ones to me. I refused to take medicine when pregnant so I wouldn't have done either one. Many years ago, it was common to give a mom in labor an enema, so I doubt a suppository laxative would harm you or your baby, but don't get your hopes up that it'll do anything to speed the onset of labor. It'll happen when it's time.

the reason castor oil was supposed to work is for the same reason the suppository works---the idea is get the bowels moving and labor will soon follow...who knows-- it can't hurt, emptying the bowels before giving birth used to be standard practice!
good luck and happy labor!

I have heard that riding a merry go round will help on set labor. Didn't work for me but did for two of my friends that we over due. Also if you not a normally a real active person, go shopping for hours, like all day. That is what did it for me.

be careful don't use Castor oil.. it has several side effects, moreover it doesn't really induce labour. walking has been also proved to not to help induce labour. it's only recommended in order to be in shape for delivery. Just be patient . pregnancy is not necessarily just 40 weeks , it can go to 42 weeks after which uca n be induced. let everything go naturally. u,ll deliver when ur baby is ready to come to this world. good luck

A friend of mine went into labor while washing the kitchen floor on her hands and knees....just an idea. If you decide to do this, be careful and don't slip!! Good Luck!

Doubtful. Since suppository's are mostly stool softeners. Maybe try exlax or something. I tried it as well castor oil, and neither worked, but maybe it will for you.

I wouldn't count on it. I tried walking, driving on bumpy roads and jumping on a trampoline and I still went 41 weeks with my daughter. When it's time it will come on it's own.

Well you can trigger labour if you walk a lot, or sit in a car with bumpy roads.
