I love that book. What a beautiful story of unconditional love. I now read it to my children.

I love the Giving Tree. Although my personal favorite of Shel Silverstein's along the same lines (as opposed to poetry books) would be The Missing Piece OR The Missing Piece Meets The Big O. Both are great books!

I loved this story as a kid, and about 2 years ago, my mom gave me a hardcover copy of it with a dust jacket for Christmas. The inscription said "You're never too old for a Silverstein!" I've always thought she was right. The book is timeless, and gives us a great lesson in love and what is important in life. Happy reading!

The tree is the parent. And children never love their parents the way they have been loved. This is human nature.
I cannot read the book without tears. Impossible to read aloud without a quaver in my voice.

Definitely. It is very emotional, yet it teaches us an important lesson on generosity and how the tree helped a boy grow up.

This book makes me cry. It is a sad, but lovely story about what love can be.
I gave this book to my best friend because she has given me so much through our friendship.

I don't see how anyone could read this and not be affected or at least remember its point, which is the importance of being unselfish
