That isn't engorgement, it's a breast infection. If you have *any* symptoms other than in the breast, you can be pretty sure it's an infection.

Nurse frequently--at least every 2 hours (timed from the beginning of one feeding to the beginning of the next).

Eat well, and drink when you're thirsty.

Stay in bed *except* when you get up to use the bathroom.

If it continues more than 24 hours, call your doctor; you may need antibiotics.

When did you deliver? Its possible when your milk actually comes, in to get a low grade fever and you so sweat a lot after delivery. Its your body's way of getting rid of excess fluids. Also, it also seems to occur about 3 hours after the last feeding...its like Mother Nature's way of letting you know its time to feed...sometimes waking you from sleep. If your uncomfortable, you can have a hot shower and/or manually express the milk in the shower, sink or cup. Also, you should try to nurse the baby every 2.5 - 3 hours to prevent engorgement. If the baby won't nurse, a pump is a great option. Manually express enough milk to soften the nipple area, so you can get it into the baby's mouth. Nurse Nurse Nurse. That will help. Also, try and relax. Dim the lights, drink LOTS of h2o and a crying baby sometimes helps the milk to let down. I'm not sure if your milk has actually come in or if its an engorement problem. Either way, treatment still the same. Good luck. nursing is hard. Stick with it...it gets so easy after the first 2-3 weeks. Feed the baby, not the clock or the book, but offer it often. Cabbage leaves help too, but no more than 20 minutes. You can also ice them. You can buy round soft 'donut' like gel filled things that you feeze and then place in your bra. There's a hole in the middle for the nipple. Any cold compress will do though. Read Baby Whisperer or BabyWise. Le Leche has good info as well.

How old is your baby? If you have been breastfeeding a while now and have those symptoms, you NEED to call your doctor or go to the ER. You could have an infection which is VERy common in breastfeeding moms.....you need to catch it early that is why I said you need to talk to your DR. If you just had a baby and are COMMONLY engorged I found shredded cabbage applied to the breast helps. You can also stand in the shower under warm water adn gently massage your breasts. you need to try to pump or express the milk...that is the only way to get the milk out if hte baby can't get it out for the engoregment. NURSE NURSE and NURSE!!! That will help!

First, check to see if you have a fever, then look to see if you have any lumps or red spots on your breasts. It's possible you have mastitis a breast infection. Can you pump? Can you feed the baby at all? Feeding amd pumping will help to release your milk as well as standing in the shower and letting the water hit your breasts.

If you have a fever, call your doctors office so they can help. Also, if you have access to the hospitals breast feeding center, call them.

You can get through mastitis and continue to breastfeed.

Go take your temp.

It sounds like you might be getting mastitis. Do you have a fever? Do your breasts hurt and feel hot? Do you feel kind of like you are getting the flu?

Take some vitamin C and if you have raw garlic cloves, cut them into pill sized pieces and swallow them. (Great antibiotic properties.) You may need to see your doctor tomorrow to get antibiotics if it doesn't clear up over night. Drink as much fluids as you can and nurse a lot. REST.....don't do anything other than take care of yourself and nurse.

If you are having trouble letting down, you might try some heat on your breasts before nursing to get the blood flow going. Either hot compresses or a hot shower. Some women fill a bowl or the sink with hot water and lean over into it and soak their breasts.

Contact your local La Leche League Leader for more suggestions.

take a warm shower or use warm compresses on your breasts. if you have a pump try to pump or offer the breast to your baby as much as you can. you can also try to hand express.

the sweats are just the pregnancy hormones leaving your body. cracking the window open at night helped me tremendously!

drinking cold water helps too!

you could have an infection in your breasts.............call your doctor. In the mean time express milk out of your nipples in between feedings(you might be producing more than the baby wants to eat)
