Fill the dish with Hot water and add some bleach...The bleach will kill the mold...Let it soak for a few hours and it will be fine...
I think its funny someone thought you were tryin to save the food...To remove the mold from the food so you could eat it.......lol. haha ha

I'd say just scrape out the leftovers into the garbage, then let the dish soak in some HOT water w/ dishsoap. That should disinfect it enough so you can wash it then.

If the dish in question is made of china, metal or glass, just wash it in soapy water like you do your other dishes. It will be OK. If it's a plastic container, as many storage containers are, run it through the dishwasher, if you have one, using the top shelf. If not, bleach it in a solution of one part bleach, ten parts water for ten minutes and rinse well.

I would just throw the dish away unless its your one and only dish, then soak it in hot water then wash it with soap and bleach, then let the dish sit outside in the sun to get the bleach smell off of the dish

Scrub with a non-scratching scouring sponge and plenty of dish detergent until the stuff comes off. Then just run it through the dishwasher.
