Bear stirring; I think we're fighting the same side here and you beat me to the point which was to come in the following question's (now thats scary)
"A Man who claimed that God guided his destiny" THAT is the point,
and look at the madness that followed. Nearly 70 years later we are still being led by men on all sides who claim God is guiding them. Why does it seem so wrong to look back to move forward.
Peace to you my friend also. Its a shame, sometimes that this format is so limiting.

Are you suggesting that it was Ironic that Adolf Hitler made it on to the cover of Time? Is it really clever looking backwards through a crystal ball? All that anyone knew in 1938 is that the unemployment rate in Germany was low, that efficient new highways were being built, and that 'terrorist organizations' had been ruthlessly put down and that the Federal State of Germany was in the hands of a charismatic compelling Man who claimed that God guided his destiny. Looking at Bearstirringfromcave's response, all I can say is, it's a bloody good job that Bush isn't charismatic.
What worries me about the point you're making is that it was 1941 before Time readers woke up.
