There is an infinite number of things that could contribute to not getting pregnant. I'll just list a few.
You may not have fully developed your reproductive system at the time when you first started trying. You are still young and some girls don't finish puberty until late into their teens.
You may not have a regular menstruation cycle. You may not ovulate regularly or even every month for that matter. It is usually not a major cause for concern, but it will lessen your chances of conception.
Your partner may have a low sperm count or another issue causing complications. It only takes one to make a baby, but the more there are and the faster they are, the better the chances.
You or your partner may have been eating something, taking a medication, or doing something else in your lives that hindered conception. Things as simple as a man wearing tight underwear or using a laptop computer have been known to cause difficulties. You never know what simple things could make a difference.
Remember, there is only a few day window each month when the female body is capable of getting pregnant. Everything has to fall into place at the right time for magic to happen. If someone has a one night stand and everything just happens to line up right, it will happen.
Even doctors can't guarantee that by putting a fertilized egg directly into your uterus you will become pregnant and that is the most controlled environment possible today. It's more hit and miss when your trying to do it naturally.

Congratulations on your recent success and I wish you a happy pregnancy, childbirth and motherhood. Good luck to you.

If you want to get more in depth with this you can look up information pertaining to infertility treatments. You are liable to find a good deal of information on causes of infertility there. Your OB-GYN can provide you with many answers as well.

It's that Murphys Law thing. The people who should not be and deserve least to be a parent can pop out litters. Take your time, relax, and when you least expect it, it will happen. You're awfully young to be having a baby anyway...especially for having been trying for 2.5 years! Live your life while you can because once you have a kid, it's another 18 years until you are free again.

so you are pregnant now? congratulations..
Some women just have fertility issues, you probably could have gotten pregnant sooner with help, perhaps you didn't ovulate every cycle, or who knows.. maybe your partner has a really low count (I guess that only works if you've been with just one). The general rule is that if a couple actively tries for 12 mos with no success then they probably need medical intervention, you may want to think of this if you try to get pregnant again, so that you don't have to try so long if you don't want to!

i know the question you are asking i tried for 7 years to get pregnant and it was very difficult because i knew i wanted to be a mother. but then i realized that my weight was an issue for some people if you are mildly overweight it can cause problems. but now i am 26 and expecting my first child with my new boyfriend and i am happier than i ever was with the one who brainwashed into believing it was me and my weight when it was him and his non-existant little swimmers.

A better question would be -- why do you want a baby at age 21? There is so much more living for you to do before getting tied down with the responsibility of raising a baby.

To answer your question -- it could be a number of things. (Weight, diet, gyn problems, medications, etc.) If you've been trying for 2 yrs then you may want to seek assistance from infertility specialist.

Trust me I feel you... I too am 21 and want to be pregnant... however... I still have not had that joy... everywhere i go I see young, young girls with babies... it kind of makes you wonder what are they doing that I am not? Babies are supposed to be gifts from God... so why does he give that wonderful gift to a bunch of high schoolers and not me... the one that is married and has a career!!!!
