I don't know. Once I saw a very small bright light dancing among the spring flowers. I could hear a voice singing come dance with us come dance with us. Suddenly there were a whole bunch of dancing bright lights. Dancing in the field of early spring flowers. I really wanted to go dancing with the lights. Then the teacher hit a desk at the front of the room to gain the attention of a fellow student and when I looked again I could only see the one light who sang please join us. Then flew away.
I have never been asked again or I would of joined the fairies and wouldn't be answering this question. Oh well.
Life is short.

I don't believe or disbelieve anything. To believe means to be convinced a statement is true without proof. I insist upon knowing facts by using logic and scientific method (one of my college courses), rather than blindly believing nonsense. There is no proof that faeries or fairies, ghosts, Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, UFO's, Atlantis, God, angels, devils, dragons or other such imaginary non-beings exist, so I know, not merely believe, they don't.

A fairy (sometimes seen as fairie or faerie) is a spirit or supernatural being that is found in the legends, folklore, and mythology of many different cultures. They are generally humanoid in their appearance and have supernatural abilities such as the ability to fly, cast spells and to influence or foresee the future. Although in modern culture they are often depicted as young, sometimes winged, females of small stature, they originally were of a much different image: tall, angelic beings and short, wizened trolls being some of the commonly mentioned fay. The small, gauzy-winged fairies that are commonly depicted today did not appear until the 1800s.

Shakespeare carefully put in the mouth of his fairies:

PUCK: My fairy lord, this must be done with haste,
For night's swift dragons cut the clouds full fast,
And yonder shines Aurora's harbinger;
At whose approach, ghosts, wandering here and there,
Troop home to churchyards: damned spirits all,
That in crossways and floods have burial,
Already to their wormy beds are gone;
For fear lest day should look their shames upon,
They willfully themselves exile from light
And must for aye consort with black-brow'd night.
OBERON: But we are spirits of another sort:
I with the morning's love have oft made sport,
And, like a forester, the groves may tread,
Even till the eastern gate, all fiery-red,
Opening on Neptune with fair blessed beams,
Turns into yellow gold his salt green streams.

I am with Amber on this one. I actually live in a forest that I am sure has many elves, gnomes and faeries in it.

faeries, as well as angels, gnomes, and other creatures that exist outside of the realm of our "normality" are here just as sure as we are. some can see them (the intuitive and open of heart and soul) and some, well, let's just say, it is a bit harder when the mind is so darn closed up.
