I had heard of them, but knew little about them until I saw them in Milwaukee recently. Hands down, they are now my favorite band with Good Charlotte a close second. I hope to get some serious answers as I can't define them. What are they!?

Back in the day, they were definitely a progressive, bluesy rock band. I'm glad to hear that they are still around. If you are looking for a good overview of their career, I would recommend "Workshop of the Telescopes" a 2CD set that covers most of their work.

Neither here nor there, but I also have a funny BOC story. Back in middle school, when most of my friends were doodling hearts and flowers on their notebooks, mine were covered with the sort of cross and hook emblem that Blue Oyster Cult used. One day one of my teachers asked me when they were and I told her they were symbols for Blue Oyster Cult. You can imagine how well this went over in a Mississippi public school back in the late Seventies. One very long parent teacher conference later, I had a new set of notebooks and the teacher had a slightly better grasp of "modern" rock music.

Classic rock or just rock. Back then, they werent the hardest rocking band. But they werent crappy rock either. They were just Blue Oyster Cult.

I wasnt the hugest fan, but they were okay.

My fav songs are

"Veteran of Psychic Wars" -from the Heavy Metal Soundtrack

and "Joan Crawford Has Risen From the Grave"

Maybe back in the 70s and 80s they were rock, but these days, they would be considered classic rock.
