Why do they strap explosives on their bodies and want to die?

I believe it's because of brainwashing (in some places, very young children are brainwashed and wired into a life of hatred against the Jew and against the West in general) and partly because of their religious belief that they could go to heaven if they die as martyrs (suicide bombers). If they cite persecution and harsh life as reasons, it won't hold water. No other people has been persecuted and subjected to the harshest kind of life as much as the Jews, espeially during Hitler's time, and even at today. (Remember the war to liberate Kuwait from Iraqi occupation? Whenever a missile hits Iraq from the allied forces in Kuwait, they retaliate not against Kuwait but against Israel). But I haven't heard about any Jewish sucide bomber who straps explosives on his body and blow it up among civilians. And Israelis live in the dessert, too, just like their Arab neighbors, but they have tamed the dessert and transformed it into a very productive agricultural land. If the Arabs, especially the terrorists transfer their type of dedication to destruction of lives and properties (and also financial resources) into a passion for agriculture and other productive endeavors, then Arab lands, too, could be transformed into agricultural miracles and millions of destitute Arab people could certainly benefit from all these.

Arab society in the peninsula is blessed with an harsh environment. Where agriculture is non-existent, and life is at a subsistence level in a barren desert environment with extremes in climate that vary from warm to extremely hot. This has shaped the temperament of the people who are hot tempered, violent and hyper-sensitive in their sense of honor, revenge and retribution. With life an on-going struggle against the forces of nature that comprise of desert storms, a bleak and monotonous environment, devoid of natural vegetation, except in the oases, the mental make-up of Arabs has been shaped by the dictum Kill or be killed. even before Islam was founded.

This has been the psyche of the Bedouin Arabs who inhabited the Arabian peninsula. The people who came from the same stock, who lived further north in Mesopotamia had a different geographic and climatic environment. They developed advanced riparian civilizations on the banks of the Farath (Euphrates) and Tigra (Tigris). The Babylonian and Assyrian civilizations of Hamm-ur-rabi and Nabu-chad-nazar, were developed by the same Semitic people who lived in peninsular Arabia. So the temperament of a same ethnic people (the Arabs) could be entirely different, depending on the environment in which they resided.

-- A Muslim who does this has great honor. This is to be a shahid (martyr) in the jihad/qitl fee sybil Allah (fight/killing in the cause of Allah.) A mujahid (person who fights in a jihad) who dies during the jihad fee sybil Allah becomes a shahid (martyr) and is guaranteed a place in Jannah (heaven).

Or are you asking why do Shiite and Sunni Muslims kill each other?

It is their religion. They hate jews and christians because we are non-believers. Here are a few quotes from the koran

coz they have nothing to live for when ignorant people like bush kill their families and destroy their houses for a tank of oil or when israel goes into palestine to steal the land coz some fool drew a map thousands of years ago..so they go and strap their bodies with explosives and cause the same pain to those that agree with the murder of innocent people, they can do it differently but they dont have war airplanes and weapons like those that america sends to israel!

well technically, they have been fighting against each other for the last thousand years cutting each others heads off, if western countries never created chaos over there they wouldn't be cutting each others heads off for the next thousand years.
