I've been using a pda for playing mp3s some time now. I'm hesitating to buy a separate portable mp3 player because the pda could perform the same function, so it'll just be an additional weight in my bag. Unless there're drawbacks to playing mp3's on a pda. Are there? I haven't experienced any problems/inconveniences so far, but that ipod is just so nifty!

Using your PDA as an mp3 player is great. The only advantage for a small mp3 player, such as the iPod Shuffle, iPod Mini, or even the smaller Sony Walkman or iRiver mp3 player is that they are smaller and lighter than your PDA. Aside from weight, the PDA will do just fine. If you have an SD card slot, you can expand your PDA with extra space to store music file on SD card.

I would use your PDA, much more convenient and you can get a 2gb sd card and store all your songs on it
