Child support is money paid by one spouse to another in order to help with the expense of child rearing. Even though the money is supposed to benefit the child, the money doesn't belong to the child, and it's disbursement is at the discretion of the parent that is receiving the money.
Any claim for outstanding monies for child support can only be claimed by a parent. If your mother didn't get child support or is owed a balance, than she is the only person that will be able to collect those sums.

In the state of Arkansas you have 5 years to collect child support after you turn 18. You or your Mother either one can file. If he was ordered to pay and your Mom didn't get it then you do have an avenue open to you to collect. Contact a lawyer in your state and he can tell you what the laws are in your state or go on line and look up the statutes in your state and find the answer. Good Luck

actually you don't get it, you mother gets it, She can still try to recieve some of the back support she has never recieved up to a point. Your mother can go to court and try to get some back payments.

The money was for paying for your cost of being raised.

If the agreement between your mom and dad stated he was to pay for college expence you mom could try and get money for that.

The money will go to who ever took care of you those 18 years. that is if they ever catch up to him, and their is a order of child support, if your caretaker was welfare then they get the money..

Well, maybe your mom got it.
That's where the money goes to, you know.
It goes to the legal guardian....not the child.

Somebody got it if your father paid child support.
If he didn't pay, call a lawyer. Your mom should have!

If he was court ordered to pay and did not your mom can file for it.
It doesn't go to you it goes to your mom to use to take care of you.
