Are released without charge due to:

1. insufficient evidence (as has happened in the vast majority of terror detentions)

OR

2. their trials being compromised by Reid's press conference and the media naming and shaming the suspects.

Note, NONE of these alledged terrorists have been charged yet, let alone found guilty in a genuine just trial.

If they are found guilty, then let me kill them myself, if not, what are people going to do?

The question is, how would you feel if (1 AND 2) above?

I'd hold the government accountable for being stupid.

And if there was still probable cause to believe the posed a threat, I'd expect the government follow proper procedures next time, with a warrant, so that they could be convicted if they are guilty.

I don't believe in compromising the integrity of the system or that the ends justify criminal means. The government has the resources to not be stupid. They have no excuse for such failures.

Specifically, (1) given probable cause to arrest and indict, there's no reason the government cannot take the time necessary to gather the evidence legally to ensure conviction. Especially given the hysteria in the country and the tendency to convict on pure rumor and speculation.

(2) Government officials should know better than to screw up the legal system. I realize that our government doesn't respect the laws, but that's a reason to elect new officials, not to change the law to make excuses for them.

This presupposes that you see the point of the arrest as a means to prosecution

Others may see them as a means of disrupting a plot when it could never be brough to trial because the "evidence" to go and get them in the first place came from strapping a couple of prisoners in Pakistan in to the national grid

Just an alternative view playing Devils Advocate here

Sad thing is Reid has got the Tony problem, has to be the big man taking the glory. If he has compromised any case he should be sacked on the spot. It won't happen. If they are not guilty of any crime it will be another major **** up by Blair and the MI6 lot. Ian Blair of the Met should go as well. If they are quilt hang them.

Trial by Media, good point....

A responsible news network would never get in the way of the court system if it would jeopardise any real justice...

This recent airport plot must have been a hoax.

Not at all surprised. This is what I expect to happen. However, they won't be at a trial if they are released without charge.

If they are alleged terrorists,,, then it will be too bad, if they get released. If this happens then, there must be some business between them and the government of that country.
