All creatures are in ecological balance, or they try to be. Humans upset that balance at their peril.

The Australians introduced the cane toad to eat the bugs in the sugar cane fields. Now they have a cane toad problem.

Many creatures will eat mosquitos, and not only the adults. A whole load of water creatures, including thousands of fish species eat the larvae.

Get rid of mozzies and you introduce masses of other problems.

Things in nature don't have to be useful, they just have to be successful. Mosquitoes certainly manage to thrive!

As it happens, many birds eat them. If you have swallows, swifts, house martins or similar birds living near you, it's lovely to watch them in the evening swooping through the sky, catching insects on the wing.

actually, according to wikipedia, mosquitoes only account for 10% of incetovores' diet. Couldn't really find where they have a use, except to spread diseases, which is not a good thing.

Their main purpose in life is to annoy the heck out of humans and pass along germs.

Food chain!

Their larvae feed fish and amphibians; their adults feed other insects, birds and mammals.

They are just a pain to have at a picnic, or when you are trying to sleep.

I don't think that all of them carry disease; they are just annoying to us.
