to many to list.every kind of wood has been used to build one thing or another.most common for framing a house,would be spruce pine and hemlocck.as for interior the options are endless.oak ,maple,pine and poplar are common.white ceder for the siding and red ceder on a roof are options.pine for the exterior trim.then theres log cabins that are nade out of whatever is growing in the area.

Every and any kind of wood you can think of is used in carpentry.
If you are talking about framing lumber for a house, Douglas Fir is the most popular and most cost effective.
For finish carpentry inside a home, Poplar is the best choice. It is generally free of knots, is straight grained and takes paint well. And it is most cost effective.
The best for furniture are Cherry and Maple.
Western Red Cedar is the best for outside decks and hand rails. It has natural preservatives.

Fasteners are, Common nails, Ring nails, finish nails, Deck screws, drywall screws, tap-cons, Masonry screws, Butterfly screws, POZIDRIV HEAD screws, countersink screws, round head screw, lag bolts, hex head screws, machine bolts, silicone could also serve as an ahedsive. Masking, duct, electrical, as well as scotch tape could be used. Wood glue, elmers and gorillia glue too. Carrage bolts, wood screws, machine bolts and tacks. Think Think Think!
