My son had a bag of taffy in his room that of course dumped over and now a couple of the pieces are stuck to the carpet. It is white carpet and I have no idea how to remove the taffy without making a bigger mess.Anything would be helpfull.

Try to get the toffee as cold as possible by putting a big iceblock or bag of ice cubes on the stain and make it harden. Then get a knife and scrape towards the centre of the stain and it will come off in pieces then you can clean the remainder with carpet cleaner. Do not use hot water or anything that will spread the stain thinner or cook it into the carpet.

3 possible solutions-

1 (the hard and over-achiever method) purchase a top of the line vacuum cleaner with shampoo attachment. Or hire a cleaning person to clean it.

2 (the simple yet pricey method) rip the carpet up and replace it.

3 (the cake method) rearrange the room hiding the mess under an item of furniture.

Call a local carpet store and ask them. They could probably tell you something to use. But, if worse comes to worse.......they could always cut out the area and replace the carpet. It would be a seamless repair by professionals.

try hot water, literally as hot as you can get...blot the area(don't rub!) to loosen the taffy and get it out of the pile. then go after it with Resolve to remove any staining.

Try putting eggwhites on the stain, let it sit a few minutes , then scrape it up. I know this works on chewing gum.

you could use WD-40 or use a product called De-solve it or sumthin like that (the latter works REALLY well, it takes out play-dough, and even gum w/ no problem)
