If you were gonna buy a house with a big front and back yard, and it was dry with little rain in the summer. Would you rather see grass in the front yard or nice rocks?
What should we do?
1.just replant grass, hope that it looks good until the next people move in.
2.pour some nice gravel, and maybe some small hills with yucca's
on top maybe a small tree.
P.S. The back yard has trees w/ grass nice shade. The front no trees. dry and no shade and is tilled and ready for something.

getting grass to grow is hard work, depending on where you live. I have tried for 2 years to grow it in my back yard. There are alot of trees back there and it does not get much sun. I tried every grass seed out there. I even tried sod. No luck. I ended up doing gravel with some colorful plants, looks pretty good now.

I used to live in West Texas where the situation is just that and I always used to love it when people had their front lawns landscaped as rock/cactus gardens....it was lovely and didn't waste much needed water....your back yard, you can put a pool if you can afford it, but if not you can continue the rock/cactus theme on most of it and install an underground watering system for the "lawn"....there are drought resistant sods you can buy to ↑ the fortitude of it's survivability in the dry conditions. good luck♣!

Sounds like your selling your house. Well, personally, I think a house sells better if there was grass. It's more pleasing to the eye, people tend to like what is familiar and common. I think grass is better than rocks. I mean both are pretty but go with grass.

No. 2. I've seen some very smart looking yards done up with coloured stone, trees and various plants with a few flowers for colour. I had a space in front of a bow window where I put coloured stone in and then sat pink patio stones on that and then sat various coloured planters on them. I spot- lit the plants with solar lights. Really looked nice at night.

IN THE BACK YOU COULD MAKE A SEATING AREA. IN THE FRONT YOU COULD PUT DOWN WOOD CHIPPINGS AROUND A BIRD BATH OR ROCKS WITH A LITTLE FOUNTAIN
