I have a child and I smoke I do wash my hands after I smoke before I go to pick him up and I try to go outside or I open a window I wont lie I do smoke in my house but I do put him in the other side of the room. Yes I know smoking is bad but you know what everyone says this and my mom smoked the whole time she was pregnant with me and with my brother and I smoked the first few months I was pregnant with my son because I did not know I was I did stop once I found out but like I said my mom smoked with all her children and we are all fine. A lot of people I know smoked with there children also or in a different room and they are fine. No I will not smoke right next to him and I don't let people but I do smoke in the house.

If your going to smoke, go out side. It is better for the child or children. If you just put the child in another room the smoke will still wonder around the house, even though you cant see it. Those chemicals are still there.

Unfortunately the toxins of cigarettes are not just airborne but they also are something that covers every surface. The latest research out of the National Institute of Health illustrates that the toxins can remain on clothing, and surfaces can last for 2 weeks. My boyfriend is a smoker and though I hate his smoking I love him and understand his addiction. Smoking is very hard to conquer and if you are not there yet - you are not a bad person. Just remember that babies are very easily affected by the lethal toxins that come from cigarette smoke. It is obvious that you care about this child so until you can kick the habit, smoke outside (this allows the smoke to dissipate in the air more easily) and then when you return to your child wash your hands and change your top to reduce the child's exposure to these elements.

Smoke travels easily and taking a child in another room just doesn't work. If you know that smoking is bad, ban that smoker to go outside, why smoke up the house to damage your lungs and te childs lungs too. This is very serious because childrens lungs are not as developed as adults and can come down with asthma, lung diseases that are quite serious.

Smoking in the house period. Go outside if the person has to smoke. Children can't protect themselves it's up to the parent.

Actually the smell of soke on your clothes can effect children. It is not fair that they should start life with people who are not educated or dont care of the childs wellbeing. Smoke outside the house. Keep the house clean and fresh for the little angles.

Smoking in the house period. Even if the smoke isn't going directly into the babies lungs, it ain't good to smoke anyways... be nice to your child. quit smoking. be a rolemodel. take up a better addiction... like chocolate.

Both are bad! Go outside! And even then, the chemicals left on your clothing can still be inhaled by your child. Throw on a tunic, or jacket, or different shirt and go smoke OUTSIDE.

If you're going to smoke, at least go outside to do it. It's bad enough they will get the smell of your clothes, but at least you won't have second hand smoke in the house.
