Tell them in private with words such as "Someone made a rude comment about you and it really upset me so I just wanted to tell you they said.........if you need me to I will get you some soap and deodorant or mouthwash and mints (depending on the problem)
Be kind you don't really know if this person is homeless or the water is shut off at their home. Don't hurt their feelings.

Sometimes being blunt is the best thing you can do, depending on who the person is (related, friend, acquaintance, child, adult, older adult) but being blunt doesn't mean you have to be rude. Before you bring it up, try to do some research on the person if you don't know them very well- i.e. do they have a medical reason, are they having work done to their pipes that could prevent them cleaning up as well as they should, is it an adolescent who's guardian may not think they need deodorant yet ? Or maybe just flat out asking them,"Honey, did you put on deodorant this morning?" which, IMO is probably the nicest way you can let people know they offend. If they already know, but are just not doing anything about it, again you may have to be blunt and let them know that body odor is not attractive. It could keep them from getting a job, finding a date, making friends and it is also not very healthy.

I'm to shy to say anything that would probably hurt the feelings of another person. However, if one should tell or not tell, it's up to the situation and if you're a close friend with one with bad odor, maybe you should try tell about it. If you're not good friends, just ignore.

Send them a gift basked without a card. Inside the basket put some deodorant, shampoo, body wash, and maybe some perfume or cologne.
That should do it and you in no way get implicated.

I guess this is hard one
You would afraid to offend
You could give them a toiletries gift.
If it is a close family member take a look at their diet.
Some foods give off bad odour
Onions and Garlic for instance
.Whatever you do try to be tactful

Definetly tell them. Be straight foward without the rudeness. Just tell them they have B.O. and maybe give them a hygiene solution. People who eat lots of garlic sometimes smell like the garlic.
