I think a lot of the world's problems are due to stupidity. I think we would find that a lot of our troubles would melt away if we could all be graced with a higher mind and a better ability to control our emotions.

You know, it seems like no matter how much we've achieved, whether it was our own individual goal or as a society, we will always be hungry for more. So, if we all DID suddenly became 50% smarter, what would the next question be? 50% smarter than THAT?

I think individual greed combined with an inability to empathise with others has more to do with the world's problems than stupidity. Supposedly the world is run by some of its smartest inhabitants already, they'd still be running things if everyone was 50% smarter, so things wouldn't change one bit.

I'd love to see a fifty-percent IQ increase.
Yahoo!Answers would only be plagued by half of the morons.
We'd have alternative energy sources in place.
Even George Bush wouldn't vote for George Bush.
The Republicrats and the Demopublicans would go the way of the dodo and the woolly mammoth.
And Paris Hilton would be potty-trained.

Such a perfect world.

" My dear MaryJaneBurn, we have many people ruling over us in this Country that are supposed to be smarter than us yet demonstrate, over and over, stupidity, ignorance, avarice and inability. I'm afraid if they became 50% brighter it would compound that same stupidity, ignorance, avarice and inability by 50%. An old saying from Will Rogers comes to mind, "Stupidity got us into this mess, why can't it get us out?"
After all, those people who get themselves into trouble regardless of the consequences would multiply societies difficulties by 50% also. I mean thieves will multiply their thievery by 50%. Avaricious people will multiply their greed by 50%. Murderers will multiply their killing 50%. War will increase by 50%. Hey, there's no way around our problems by making anyone smarter. People have to change their way of thinking."

I don't agree. If we were all smarter, you would only find higher levels of corruption and everything else.Because the more knowledge we have the more power we have to mess things up.
