YES! I was once forced to sit next to a very obese man on a flight. His fat bulged over the armrest and took up a large portion of my space. The plane was fully booked so I could not move. The worst flight I have ever taken. I paid for a whole seat and should have been entitled to it.'

OK, but if they have to pay for another seat, they should
get ALL of the services another seat gets, right?

That would be almost worth it except you get so few services
in an airplane these days, it isn't much of a win.

There are two reasons for charging extra: Comfort of
other passengers and fuel required.

If the person cannot sit without interfering with other
passengers, and the only fix is to use two seats, then that is
what they should pay for though the 2nd seat should be
heavily discounted because of all the things the airline
doesn't have to do because it is only one person (that is,
only one bag of peanuts, not two...)

Of course, the airlines should make the seats bigger and
farther apart but that'll never happen.

I've never heard of anyone being forced to do so, however, I have trouble fitting into their seats (even though the seatbelts fit) and I wouldn't mind paying for an extra ticket if I were guaranteed that it would be the seat next to me and I'd have more room to sprawl out.

I watched an incident like this once on Airlines. The lady in question was devasted when she was told she had to pay extra to fly on the plane.

And I have also seen a passenger complaining that she was almost squashed in her seat, due to the grossly overweight person sitting next to her.

So to answer your question, they should be given the choice. Pay extra for a second seat or take other means of transportation.

Yes people who are obese and can not fit in the airline seats are required to pay for two seats. They can not safely sit in one they are required to purchase another one. If they don't pay for the second seat they can not fly.

Don't agree, but at the rate of childhood obesity -- they better start making plane seats bigger!

Yes. If they can afford to be a glutton then they can afford an extra seat.

Hell yeah! I was on a small commuter flight where we had to move people around to balance the load because of a grossly obese person. LOL funny! Not for them, but it was for me, heheheh...
