Ah, well lets see if we are talking about info so the person can get to know you and you to know them. In chatting that is fine. However to give out SS, Addresses, Telephone numbers. No Way not at all... To many weirdo's out there

I had a myspace and a xanga an all i said was my name and California, nothing too personal, even i use my nickname everywhere, Mandi, not a big deal, i know better and I'm 12 but got them both when i was 11. Only ignorant minors who are unaware of some of the danger would do it.

the threat to minors is that their parents dont regulate what they do and dont do. parents have gotten lazy and TV's and computers are the knew modern babysitter. My kids have very low access to the family computer, and since i know that i can not be with them 24/7 (school, friends houses, etc) i educate them on the dangers of internet use. so, it is not the websites that are a danger, its the lack of educating these kids on the proper use of them. if parents were more involved in their kids lives, maybe these same kids wouldnt feel the need to give out their personal info on a site. they are seeking attention and the parents are dumb and blind to it.

It depends on what you mean when you say personal info. Generally, I'm very careful on the internet. There's exactly one person who I know over the internet who has my address as well as my phone number. But I have known him for 7 years and the trust is there. Usually, I only tell people my first name. Rarely, I tell them which country I'm from. That's more than enough. I'm not paranoid since I don't really indulge in e-conversations with people. But, I don't see why anyone would need to know more.

I wouldn't give out my personal info but I'm not a minor either. The minors who do give out their info over the internet are a threat to themselves and it's their parents responsibility to moniter their computer activity not ours.

No, I don't give people info over the internet- at least, no PERSONAL info. It bugs me when people put my pics on their myspace sites. Giving out personal information is an unnessesary danger- there are bad people out there.

Never ever give personal details on the net. Anyone could read them and potentially you are putting yourself in danger.
