It counts as a PE credit.
I mean like on here, how come band isn't a category under sports?

I play the clarinet also,
marching band should be considered a sport because of the activity and the competition that a band partakes in.

But people in control will not believe it to be a sport because it doesn't bring money into schools like other sporrts do,
such as football and wrestling,
so there really is no goo hope that it will become a "sport" anytime soon.

it's about as hard as a sport is considering all the hard work you put into making a show. i'm personally a member of the marching band at my school, and i know it is tough. i've been in it for 3 years now, and this will be my last. much work, sweat, and tears goes into making a show that's really good.

Because it is not a game. Yes, marching bands require skill, talent and sometimes may be involved in a contest with other marching bands, but still it is not a game.
Hopes this answers your question.

I consider a sport to be anything that is an athletic competition to be a sport. So marching band is a sport, and so are dancing and cheer leading, as long as they're done in competitively.

Don't really know why, but I think that in most school districts it qualifies as your physical education. You're in band? What do you play? I played French Horn, Trumpet, Baritone and Saxaphone in high school, and I loved every minute of it. BAND NERDS RULE!!!

ADDED:

I think on here it would classified with high school. Try putting your band q's in there and if you like the responses, keep posting them in there.

or try arts and humanities

I dont know, but i definetly think it should be. if we can consider cheerleading a sport, then we should consider marching band. i dont care what they say, its a LOT harder than cheerleading.
