I am so glad that I am not fat.......lol
You people are kind of harsh about people on disability.
I am 45 yrs old and on disability for a severe back problem along with other medical problems concerning the nerves in my feet and hands.
It took me 3 years to qualify for disability because they thought someone my age should be able to work.
And because of that myself and my little grandchild that I am raising had to do with out alot of things and live very, very frugally.
Even on disability we have to live very frugally.
What some of yall do not understand is that disability does not pay much and I would assume that if these people were able to work they would.
I know that I damn sure would.
I would much rather work at my profession and make 40 grand a year instead of being on disability and only getting like 10 a year.
So stop and think about that when you are being so critical of others.
Now I will have to agree that "some" people that are over weight should not be on disability but it depends on what is causing their obesity. And alot of ailments cause obesity due to the fact that these people can NOT get up and exercises.
I can not exercises due to my back so if I did not have genes that kept me from being over weight would you also think that I do not deserve to be on disability?

I think these people who are super fat should'nt be allowed to aswell, I think they should be put in a fat camp (it should be compulsary to anyone 2 stone overweight) and have to eat saldad, vegetables and fruit then put in a sauna to sweat so much that they slim down a little and do loads of sports, if only I was president ...muahahahahaha. There is a girl in my town who has a disability income she's about 10 years old and when I used to work in a shop in town she used to come in all the time buying bags of sweets at a time, i felt like saying something, but she is only 10. the only reason they can call themselfes disabled is cos they cant fit through the bloody doorways and they cant lift their fat legs far enough to climb stairs!!

If people can get disability for drug problems which they voluntarily bring on themselves, why not obesity - especially if it's due to an underlying medical problem.
Granted, it would be more practical - and usually more cost effective - to discern and treat the underlying problem, assuming that's possible. The fact remains that most fat people don't choose to be fat; and if it were as easy as some people think to trim down there wouldn't be a multi-billion dollar diet industry, would there?

You know, you are very right. They should be required to attend counseling, overreaters, nutrition classes and so on. Nothing annoys more than seeing a person who is excessively large being put on disability or them getting a scooter in the store before someone else who needs it gets it. I remember being in a grocery store and there was a women who could hardly walk due to arthritis. She depended on the pushcarts in the store and guess who got the pushcart??? Somebody that could hardly walk because they were so heavy. Many people agreed that it was very unfair.
Do you know?? that women had that cart so full of ice cream and things that she did not need.

I am what you would probably call super fat, and your post is offensive to say the least. People get disablilties for multiple reasons of which weight may be a related factor. No I am not on disabilty either and yes I do work out and more than likely eat healthier foods than you do. My metabolism is screwed and keeps weight on, not that I need to explain myself but your post shows the same intolerance and bigotry as someone that dislikes another person based on race or religion. Until you have walked in others shoes - DO NOT CONDEMN THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AGREED...being a lazy, fat, undisciplined slob does NOT qualify one as 'disabled'! It's ridiculous...drop the cheeseburgers get off the a**es and exercise, and don't blame McDonald's for making you fat! I live six miles from a Mc Donalds and I wear a size 1.

some people have medical problems. some have
physical problems which prevent them from having an
active life style. perhaps you need to walk a mile or so
in their shoes.
