We have 11 gallons per minute from our well for our sprinkler system and have 3 heads per zone. In other comments, it was said that if mushrooms appear or if there is a yellow tinge to the grass, it may be overwatering, is this true? Also, the leaves on our newly planted trees this year are black on the ends and curled up. Is this a sign of overwatering? We put pvc pipe near the roots so we could deep water and we water the grass and trees every other day from 2 - 3 hours for each zone. We were told the problem was salt damage due to the alkali in our water so have used Muracid twice this summer and it helped with one maple but the pear, locust and autumn blaze maple really look bad. We don't want to lose them and need advice on how to water and how much to water. Thanks!

there is alot of factors that have to be looked at.where do you live? has it rained lately?most important when are you watering?try to water in early morn.never in the evening as it wont dry as fast during the night and cause insect problems.i would not water for more than an hour per zone, every other day,if there has not been rain.as for the trees, how newly planted are they?they just may be expieriencing a little shock.have you fed them lately?if so how much and what kind? try to stay organic with your fertilizer.manure and compost is best for them.inorganic ferts.can easily burn them.there is a company called fox farms that put out a great organic liquid fertilizer you mix with water that you may look into.have a water sample tested at a local nursery for any metals.as for the mushrooms, they need moisture and shade, usaully you will find them on the north side of the house, make soup lol .good luck.im sure everything will come together for you in the end.

That sounds like a lot of water. You shouldn't water more than an
inch a week early in the morning. The salt in your system is the problem. It will kill anything. Try putting a filter on your sprinkler system. Also, Maples are acid loving. If your soil is highly alkaline,
they won't grow well no matter what you do.

You should not water any one area for more than a 1/2 hour at a time. Try that and see if your grass starts to look better.

Mushrooms are definitely signs that too much water is present. They require constant moisture.

If you place some open top cans in various places around the yard then let the water run it should measure 1 inch in the can. Then you are watering at the correct amount

If you called one of your local Landscape businesses, they would come out, inspect the grass and trees and make recommendations. Too much water is as bad as not enough.

it's possible that you may be overwatering, also make sure you're not watering during the day, if you do make sure it's in early morning otherwise you could be burning your plants
