I was under the impression that if you didn't register your copy of xp (I do have a legal Xp Media) that, like Microsoft office, it stopped working after a while.
Was I wrong?

I do. I own 1 CD xp windows professional and 20 CDs xp windows home edition. Complete with license, original box, CD kit tool and manual. I installed and registered it to microsoft so i can operate an internet cafe legally. However, windows xp home edition is a second party use only , i signed a waiver giving me microsoft a permission to use it for third party use or for business purposes.

Well..truth is always bitter. Most of us are not thieves or anything but it is just that a pirated version is so cheap and available so readily with all fetures intact that nobody takes a risk :))..Those who do are either super rich or super honest. If you consider the Bell Curve of distribution the average is not either of these two supers..;)
