I have been with my boyfriend for 5 years, and we have been living together for 1. I have a friend that tells me her boyfriend will never propose because why should he? she is already living with him and doing everything for him. What do you think are signs a man will never propose??

The last thing you should have done was to move in with him, I probably would have if I had been given an engagement ring and had some idea/date as to when the wedding would be. You just don't move in together after all these years and then wonder if he will propose, because he will not. What reasons are there for him to want to marry you, now that you two share the same space. You two are sharing a bed each night, it's like you both are playing house. No comittment whatsoever.

Well, I have to tell you that my friend was with her boyfriend for 9 years before he proposed to her and now they are getting married on their 10 year anniversary. They are high school sweethearts and so they will just be 28 when they are married, still young!! There are lots of signs that a man will never propose, one big one being he is never willing to talk about it.

I think the fact that you have been with him for 5 years and living with him for 1 year and he hasn't asked or given you any signs of proposal...you already have your answer.
I say quit wasting your time on Mr. I Can't Propose and find a man who will.
I feel like you are wasting your time right now.

If youve been with him for 5 years and living with him for one, depending on how old you are, he better propose soon. don't be like me and waste all your 20's and half of your 30's with a guy who never proposed. I found myself single and alone at 35. (but I did find mr.Right and married him at 36 - but now I'm too old to have children) If you make yourself to convenient for the man and give him all he needs without having to marry you, why would he marry you?

The answer is living together for 5 years!
What is his incentive to propose? He apparently has your love and companionship.
I'd make a soft ultimatum to him. Let him know your concerns and ask what the future looks like between you and him.
Sounds like he's too comfy in the position he's in. If he truly loves you and wants to be with you for the long hall.... he should show his intentions!
Hope he knows how to tie knots? (lol)

Have you ever talked about marriage? That's generally the indication.
Plus, IMHO, if you're wanting to get married in the long-term, moving in together without even being actually engaged was a dumb move.

If you catch him in the shower with your sister or best friend, that would be a pretty good indication that he doesn't intend to propose
